Setting up MySQL Databases
MySQL Databases
Overview
MySQL Databases are used to store website data, including content, settings, user accounts, and application information. Many applications, including WordPress and other CMS platforms, require a MySQL database to function.
You can create databases and additional database users directly from your hosting control panel.

Create a New MySQL Database
To create a database:
- Log in to your hosting control panel.
- Select your hosting package.
- Open MySQL Databases.
- Enter a Database Name.
- Click Create Database.
A database user and secure password will be generated automatically.

Database Naming Rules
Database names:
- Must be between 6 and 20 characters.
- Can contain letters, numbers, and hyphens.
- Will automatically receive a unique suffix to prevent name conflicts across the platform.
Manage MySQL Databases
All databases created within your hosting package will appear in the Manage MySQL Databases section.
From here, you can:
- View existing databases
- Access database details
- Manage database settings

MySQL Users
When a database is created, a matching database user is automatically generated.
You can also create additional MySQL users if you need separate login credentials or different access permissions.
This is useful when:
- Multiple applications use the same database server
- Developers require separate access
- Different permission levels are needed
